#WCW=We CAN Wednesday: What do YOU want?

This will be quick. I have a question for you... and it's the same question that I am currently asking myself.

What do you want?

No, really. WHAT. DO. YOU. WANT?

I'm the type of person who will gladly give advice to anyone who needs it (whether they want it or not). If a friend is choosing between hairstyles, I'll tell her to chop it off and dye it red. If a colleague needs a heads up about an opportunity, I will give them my two cents. I sometimes even make a few coins for giving my opinion as a consultant. I've got plenty of opinions and I'm always open to give them.

However, what I have grown to realize is that sometimes when people ask for advice, they don't REALLY want advice. Maybe they just want to know they are on the right track, or get opinions for the sake of hearing feedback. Maybe they just want to hear themselves talk 🤷🏾‍♀️ . Nonetheless, I have learned that the best way to help people is to encourage them find their own compass and answer their own question.

What do YOU want?

As women, we are conditioned to want buy-in or cosigns from any and everyone before we make a decision. We are scared to speak up and assert ourselves and feel comfortable enough in our own vision to move forward with our thoughts, ideas, and desires. We rely on feedback from our parents, our friends and peers, and our significant others when we really should be listening to ourselves. What do you think? What do you want?

If you are of sound mind, YOU have all the information you need to make an adequate decision. YOU know all of the factors at play and can come to your own conclusions regarding the rewards or consequences of your actions. YOU are in control of your destiny, and it is your walk of faith that will determine your success. I'm not saying that seeking wise counsel is unnecessary, it absolutely is. However, do not remain paralyzed with inaction because you need a second, third, fourth, and fifteenth opinion on your life.

Let us all trust our own gut, our own intuition, and in our own God-given strength to push towards the life that HE has waiting for us. He's just waiting for us to make that first step.

The time for being scared is over, it's time to go for it!

What do YOU want?!

Love,

Tev
