#WCW=We CAN Wednesday: You Can't Just Talk About It

Do you know that person who is always "about to" do something? They are "about to" start a business, "thinking about" finding love, "looking into" a new career opportunity, or "researching" a diet and exercise plan. That person may have good ideas, have an issue that needs resolution, or even has lots of potential but can't quite commit. Are you that person? If you don't know anyone like that, well now you do.

That person is me.

Don't get me wrong, I set goals and accomplish them all the time - especially when it comes to family, education, and career goals. However, I have a problem with hesitation, consistency, and procrastination when it comes to certain areas of my life. I come up with good ideas all the time, but get scared or (ahem) lazy and don't quite execute.

Example: My Best Friend and I have a timely and necessary (dare I say FIRE) idea for a podcast. We talked about it to the nth degree, but researched it halfheartedly, and didn't come up with a plan that would truly get the ball rolling. We hemmed and hawed for almost a year, moving at a snails pace to get our act together. Long story short, our bubble was burst when on our timeline, we saw an announcement for a podcast with a similar name and concept, featuring people who are NOT me and my friend. So now, although we will push forward with new enthusiasm, the concept is not as novel as we originally hoped it would be.

It is my belief that God speaks to us through the ideas that we have, the solutions that we realize, and even the knowledge that we attain. I once heard a speaker who expounded this concept, saying that God will give you the inspiration, but when we refuse to act upon it, He gives the idea to someone who will actually take a step of faith and move forward with it.

When we talk, talk, talk with no real action, we miss out on the rewards for our faithfulness. Had I stuck with the diet that I started at the beginning of 2018, I would be much closer to reaching my weight loss goals right now. Had we started that podcast, we would have had an audience who would be enriched and entertained by our commentary. Had you proceeded with that business idea, you could have been closer to being a  true entrepreneur. Had you started writing that book, it could have been on the shelf at Barnes & Noble next to your favorite authors by now. Get it? We can't just keep flapping our gums, as Redman says, "It's time for some action!"  So write it down, make a plan, and get moving!  Get S.M.A.R.T. We can't expect change when we don't change ourselves. Don't just talk about it, be about it!

Here's to actually reaching our #GOALS!!
